Denis Law Soccer Tournament
ASV is the proud host of the Denis Law Soccer Tournament.
Our aim is to turn a traditional football tournament into an innovative, inclusive event that captures the imagination of the people of Aberdeen and attracts new visitors to the City. We want to recognised as the best football festival in the UK.
Our unique approach will ensure that although football will remain the focal point of the festival, it is the fundamental values of football that will be promoted throughout and intrinsic in all we do – competition, interaction & FUN!
About the Tournament
The Denis Law Soccer Tournament 2011 was recently held at the Aberdeen Sports Village complex from 18th–22nd July and featured a number of international and local sides competing at Under 16 level in addition to a busy program of events for local younger age groups including open coaching sessions, small sided games, penalty shoot-outs, etc.
The tournament was designed to fill the gap created by the demise of the Aberdeen International Football Festival (AIFF) due to the withdrawal of support funding from Aberdeen City Council that was announced after last year's event and also include the extremely popular Corporate 7-a-side competition.
At the official launch, former Man United and Scotland soccer hero said "This is the type of footballing festival that will assist the development of local children in the area, and also provide them with an opportunity to test themselves against visiting teams as well and as an Aberdonian I'm absolutely delighted to endorse such an event with my patronage and I wish it every future success", commented the Scotland legend.
We would like to thank our main sponsor ROTECH as well as gold sponsors Flexlife & UoA for their support of the 2011 tournament.
