Aberdeen Sports Village to host a bonanza of badminton
BADMINTONscotland are gearing up for their first event of the new season, the thirty-ninth Badminton Bonanza Championships.
The Bonanza will be staged on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 September at Aberdeen Sports Village, the fantastic multi-purpose facility which recently hosted the Cameroonian Olympic Team’s 16 day Pre-Olympic games Training Camp.
It will be the first time a Badminton Bonanza Championships has been held in Aberdeen and what a cracker it promises to be.
The Bonanza tournaments are aimed at club and league standard players, giving them a chance to play some competitive games in a fun and friendly, yet competitive environment. They attract players from all over Scotland, and even players from other parts of the UK, with recent events welcoming numerous English and Irish competitors.
Entries are open to all players aged 18 and over who do not compete at National or county level. Players are divided into groups, guaranteeing at least three games per person per event before the winners of each group progress to a knockout tournament. Men’s and Ladies’ singles and doubles as well as Mixed Doubles events will all be played over the weekend.
Already entries are flooding in, but the closing date for entries to the Bonanza – Monday 3 September – is fast approaching so if you want to be part of the Bonanza go to www.badmintonscotland.org.uk to download an entry form or contact Peter Dean at BADMINTONscotland for more information.
