This FAQ page is designed to provide you with all the information you need to make the most of your ASV Games experience. Whether you're a returning participant or joining us for the first time, you’ll find details about:

Badminton
Date: Monday 24th March, 18:00-22:00
Event Lead: Christopher Kendal, University of Aberdeen Badminton Club
Training Date: Monday 17th March 2025, 18:00-21:00 (Group 1 18:00-1930/Group 2 19:30-21:00)
Location: Sports Hall
Team Sizes: 6 Team Members (3 Males/3 Females) - 1 x Male Doubles, 1 Female Doubles & 1 Mixed Doubles
Format:
• Teams will be divided into 2 Leagues, followed by a Play-Offs round to determine final standings
• Leagues & Fixtures will be determined on the event evening
• Teams will play each other in a timed format
Scoring:
• Standard Badminton scoring system
• The winner of each rally will receive 1 point, first team to 21 or scores at end of play time will be final result
• League positions will be determined by total points won, then head-to-heads as a decider following points won as a tie-breaker.
Spectating: Spectating is available, in the Sports Hall Viewing Gallery
Additional Information:
- Participants are advised to arrive 30 minutes before the event starts for registration and warm-up
- All equipment, including badminton rackets & shuttlecocks, will be provided
- Participants should wear non-marking indoor footwear (no black soles)

Table Tennis
Date: Thursday 3rd April, 18:00-22:00
Event Leads: Richard Ferro, Charlie Flint & Brian Robertson, Aberdeen & District Table Tennis Association
Training Date: Monday 31st March 2025, 18:00-22:00
Location: Sports Hall
Team Sizes: 6 Team Members (3 Males/3 Females) - 1 x Male Doubles, 1 Female Doubles & 1 Mixed Doubles
Format:
- Teams will be divided into 2 preliminary Leagues, followed by final standings groups (Top & Bottom) - results from preliminary fixtures will carry over. Teams will therefore play 7 matches in the preliminary round & 4 in the final standings group. A total of 11 matches
- Each match will consist of three games: Male Doubles, Female Doubles, and Mixed Doubles (failure to meet requirements for individual games - will result in a forfeit of that specific game)
- The preliminary Leagues, order of play and fixture lists will be provided on the event evening
Scoring:
- Each games is played to 15 points, following standard table tennis scoring system
- League positions will be determined by the number of accumulated match points (1 point per game won - matches will be scored 3-0 or 2-1)
- League positions will be determined by total points won, then head-to-heads as a decider followed by points won as a tie-breaker
Spectating: Spectating is available, in the Sports Hall Viewing Gallery
Additional Information:
- Participants are advised to arrive 30 minutes before the event starts for registration and warm-up
- All equipment, including table tennis bats and balls, will be provided
- Participants should wear non-marking indoor footwear (no black soles)
- During Training sessions, each team will be allocated a minimum of 2 tables. Coaches from Aberdeen & District Table Tennis Association will be on hand to offer any advice on rules, scoring & coaching.

Racketball
Date: Monday 21st April, 18:00-22:00
Event Lead: Joseph Ewan, Grampian Squash & Racketball
Training Dates: Tuesday 15th April 2025, 18:00-21:00 & Thursday 17th April 2025, 18:00-21:00
Location: Squash Courts
Team Sizes: 4 Team Members (2 Males/2 Females) - 1 x Male Doubles & 1 Female Doubles
Format:
• Teams will be divided into 2 Leagues, followed by a Play-Offs round to determine final standings
• Teams will play each other in a timed format
Scoring:
• The winner of each rally will receive 1 point, team with the most points win the tie
• League positions will be determined by total points won, and then head-to-heads as a decider, followed by match points scored
Spectating: Spectating is available, in the Level 2 Squash Courts Viewing Gallery
Additional Information:
- Participants are advised to arrive 30 minutes before the event starts for registration and warm-up (warm ups can be done off-court)
- All equipment, including rackets, balls and protective eye-wear will be provided
- Participants should wear non-marking indoor footwear (no black soles)

Football 7s
Date: Thursday 1st May, 18:00-22:00
Event Leads: Gavin McWilliam, Aberdeen Sports Village
Training: 1hr Booking Slot Available Per Team - email events@aberdeensportsvillage.com to confirm
Location: Indoor Pitch
Team Sizes: 7 to 10, teams must have NO more than 5 people of each gender on the pitch at any one time
Format:
• Teams will be divided into 2 Leagues, followed by a Play-Offs round to determine final standings
• Leagues & Fixtures will be determined on the event evening
• Teams will play each other in a timed format (8 minutes per fixture)
Scoring:
• Teams will play to the timed format, scores at the end of the 8 minutes will be the final result
• Teams will be award 3pts for a win, 1pt for a draw & 0pts for a loss
• League positions will be determined by total points won, then head-to-heads as a decider following goals scored as a tie-breaker
Spectating: Spectating is available, pitch side in the Indoor Football Pitch
Additional Information: NO Metal studs to be worn. Shin pads advised
• Fixtures will be refereed by SFA Referees, their decision is final
• Teams should arrive up to 30 mins prior to the event start time, to warm up & confirm order of play
• NO metal studs to be worn
• Shin pads are advised, but not mandatory

Swimming
Date: Friday 16th May, 18:30-21:30

Training Dates: Wednesday 7th May 2025, 21:00-22:00 & Wednesday 14th May, 21:00-22:00
Location: 25m Pool
Team Sizes: 8 (4 Males/4 Females) - 1 team member nominated to each individual event, 1 relay team (2 Males/2 Females)
Event List:
• 101 - 4 x 50m Mixed Medley Relay (Back, Breast, Fly, Free)
• 102 - 50m Butterfly (Male)
• 103 - 50m Butterfly (Female)
• 104 – 50m Backstroke (Male)
• 105 – 50 Backstroke (Female)
• 106 - 100m Individual Medley (Female)
• 107 – 100m Individual Medley (Male)
• 108 – 50m Breaststroke (Female)
• 109 – 50m Breaststroke (Male)
• 110 – 50m Freestyle (Male)
• 111 - 50m Freestyle (Male)
• 112 – 4 x 50m Mixed Freestyle Relay
Scoring: Points will be awarded for both individual and relay events. All individual events will be scored 16-1 & Relay events will be scored double 32-2
Disqualifications: There will be a number of judges at the event and the following infractions will result in the athlete being disqualified from that event and no points being awarded (referees decision is final):
• Starting before the starting signal
• Not touching the wall at each end (Turn and Finish)
• Not completing the distance of the event
• Wrong stroke being swum
• Any unsporting behaviour
• Not surfacing before 15m from each end
• Early take-offs in relays

Diving
Date: Thursday 29th May, 19:30-22:00
Event Lead: Kim Young, Aberdeen Diving Club
Training Dates: Thursday 8th May 2025, 20:00-21:00, Thursday 15th May 2025, 20:00-21:00 & Thursday 22nd May 2025, 20:00-21:00
Location: 25m Pool
Team Sizes: 4
Format:
• All competitors will perform six skills/dives
• Competitors can choose which height to complete their skills from, ranging from the poolside to the 10-metre board
• Competitors must specify following their final training session which skills they will be competing at the event
• The competition will run in a circuit style with the 1m, 3m and poolside/platform boards competing simultaneously
Scoring:
• Skills will be scored out of 10 by a panel of judges
• Skills which are a recognised World Aquatics dives will carry an additional degree of difficulty
• Any other skills will carry a standard degree of difficulty of 1.0
• The judges scores will be multiplied by the degree of difficulty to give a total score for each skill/dive
• The divers’ scores for their six skills/dives will be added together to reach their final score
• All 4 diver’s total scores from each team will be combined to decide the team placings (any teams with less than 4 participants will have the scores combined for their 1-3 team participants)

Additional Information:
- ALL Divers must attend a minimum of 2 training sessions, prior to participating on the Event evening
- Appropriate swimwear should be worn

Athletics
Date: Saturday 14th June, 10:00-15:00

Training Dates: Tuesday 10th June 18:00-21:00 & Thursday 12th June 18:00-21:00
Location: Athletics Area
Team Sizes: 10 (5 Males/5 Females) - Each event will require 2 Males & 2 Females to compete
Event List:
• 10.00 Teams 1-8 100m Sprint
• 10.00 Teams 9-16 Long Jump/ Shot Putt
• 10.45 Teams 1-8 Long Jump/ Shot Putt
• 11.00 Teams 9-16 4 x 100m Relay
• 11.30 Teams 9-16 100m Sprint
• 11.30 Teams 1-8 Long Jump/ Shot Putt
• 12.15 Teams 9-16 Long Jump/ Shot Putt
• 12.30 Teams 1-8 4 x 100m Relay
Scoring:

HYROX Fitness Challenge
Date: Thursday 26th June, 18:00-22:00
Event Lead: Lisa Vass, Aberdeen Sports Village
Training Date: Tuesday 24th June 2025, 17:30-22:00
Location: Athletics Area
Team Sizes: 6 (3 Male/3 Female)
Format:
• HYROX Relay
• Team order will be confirmed one week prior to the event, so teams will know when to arrive
Relay:
• Participant 1 - 200m Ski & 200m Run
• Participant 2 - 50m Sled Push & 200m Run
• Participant 3 - 50m Sled Pull & 200m Run
• Participant 4 - 200m Row & 200m Run
• Participant 5 - 50m Burpee Broad Jumps & 200m Run
• Participant 6 - 50m Farmer's Carry & 200m Run
• TEAM - 200 Wall Balls (Collective Finish)
Scoring:
• Teams will complete the Relay in a timed format
• Teams must complete all exercises and time stops when all 200th Wall Ball is complete
• Leader board positions will be determined by time taken to complete the Relay
