We know you might have a lot of queries about our reopening, so we have compiled this list of frequently asked questions to help you.

  1. Q: How do I book sessions and activities?
    A: You will need to ensure that you have an online account created - to book, you simply log in here and start browsing. All information was emailed to you directly. If you did not receive this, please email and we can resend you this information.
  2. Q: What if I turn up late to my booking slot?
    A: You must arrive on time where applicable, access will be denied if you are over 10 minutes late for your session and you will not gain access to the facility. Please ensure you leave plenty time for travel, parking & accessing the facility to avoid disappointment.
  3. Q: Can I bring a bag?
    You can bring a small drawstring gym bag or running pack. To avoid the use of lockers, users will be asked to bring their bag onto poolside or into the sports hall for their activity.
  4. Q: How many sessions can I book in a day?
    A: You can book a maximum of 2 sessions per day. This can be a gym and a class, two gym or two classes. You will still be required to take your belongings with you to your second session - i.e. you cannot leave your bag in the sports hall then go to the gym.
  5. Q: How early should I turn up for my session?
    A: You can arrive up to 10 minutes before your session starts. However, you will be required to queue outside in a socially distanced manner.
  6. Q: Can I bring a towel?
    A: You may bring a towel if you are visiting for a pool session. Towels are not permitted in gym sessions or other activities.
  7. Q: Will the water fountains be in use?
    A: No. You must bring your own water bottle, already filled. No water fountains or vending machines will be in use due to high cross-contamination risk.
  8. Q: How have your cleaning standards changed, to cope with COVID-19?
    A: The gym will be closed for 15 minutes, between bookable sessions for our team to do a quick clean up. However we will be massively relying on you, the members, to help by cleaning all equipment you use and touch.
  9. Q: Will I be able to use a locker?
    Members are encouraged not to use the lockers, and to keep your belongings with you in a bag that is no larger than 5 litres. You can bring your bag with you onto poolside and into the sport hall.
  10. Q: Will changing rooms be available?
    You are expected to arrive at ASV ready to train. However, changing rooms are available in both centres should you need to use
  11. Q: Will toilets be open to use?
    Toilets will be open throughout ASV however members are asked to respect social distancing guidelines.
  12. Q: Can I book a gym appointment or class at the desk?
    A: The latest you can book in is one hour before and you can only do that online via our online booking system. Staff within the facility will not be making bookings for members. Click here for more information on how to make bookings.
  13. Q: Do I need to wear a mask when attending the gym, class, swimming or participating in my sport at ASV?
    A: You do not have to wear a mask when you are exercising, but you will be expected to wear a mask, at all times, when travelling throughout the facility in non-sporting areas.
  14. Q: What will the numbers be like for group exercise?
    A: We have amended occupancy numbers within our facility to reflect government guidance which will mean that booking slots are reduced within these areas.
  15. Q: Can I hire equipment from ASV for my activity?
    A: Unfortunately, we will not be in a position to hire you equipment. This means that no equipment will be issued for activities such as table tennis or badminton.
  16. Q: Will showers be available at the Aquatics Centre?
    A: Customers are encouraged to shower at home where possible, however they will be available to use for quick showers if required. Showers are unavailable in the Sports Centre.
  17. Q: Will equipment be set up and cleaned in preparation for my block booking?
    A: All equipment will be set up by our team and cleaned prior to your session. We will however be asking you to finish your session 10 minutes early to wipe down all contact points i.e. table tennis tables, diving blocks, pool upstanding edges and vacate the activity area once done.
