About Us
ASV aims to provide a sense of place at the heart of our community, helping to address many of the challenges that impact health and wellbeing.
We exist as a partnership between the University of Aberdeen, Aberdeen City Council, and sportscotland as a charity regulated by the OSCR.
Our mission, put simply, is to encourage as many people as possible, regardless of age or ability, to use our exceptional facilities and exercise regularly, knowing that staying active in whatever way you choose will always leave you feeling better.
We first opened our doors in 2009, with our aquatics centre opening in 2014 where we have taught thousands from babies to the elder generation to learn to swim, which is a key life skill. We are proud to be in partnership with local organisations delivering free swimming lessons to local children.
Through our partnership with Aberdeen City Council and other organisations we have also been able to provide other sports and activities to a range of individuals and groups in our community – from funding sports camps for children from low-income families, to hosting local athletics and disability football clubs, we aim to make health & wellness accessible for everybody.
By investing back into the facility, we can ensure these community projects continue to run, alongside being able to offer first class facilities to our members and non-members helping them achieve their health and fitness goals.
