About
A former boxer of 10 years, I gained medals in Scottish and British championships, boxed internationally and represented Team Scotland on a number of occasions too. The stress of competitive sport and poor dieting practices took its toll on me and caused me to leave the sport entirely. However, this gave me an immense passion and interest in better learning how to make nutrition and exercise easier and more enjoyable.
Through sport, I developed an unhealthy relationship with food and exercise, teetering on the unhealthy, underweight side of the spectrum. However, I am now 25kg healthier than I was when I stopped boxing, learned a lot and made all of the mistakes so you don’t have to. I like to focus on how to exercise and eat for results, all while not taking things too seriously and having fun with it.
Special Interest
Inside health and fitness? Nutrition, handstands/gymnastics/bodyweight skills and being able to lift heavy weights, while simultaneously being fit enough to run a marathon.
Outside health and fitness? I love beer. IPAs, porters, sours… but stouts are probably my favourites. Also, nerdy, online, gaming with my friends is also well up there.
Interesting Fact
I climbed the highest peak in North Africa, Toubkal (4,167m) and, although it was stunning at the top, I hated it! Elevation, hiking and below zero conditions aren’t my thing…who knew?
I ran a 20-mile obstacle race, one month after leaving hospital, sporting a kilt and a rainbow mohawk.
Fitness tip
Don’t underestimate the little things. Exercise 3 or more times a week, eat sensibly 80% of the time, move often and just enjoy the process…also, keto is dumb. Change my mind.
