ASV Energisers continues to support hundreds of young people across Aberdeen by providing free access to sport, structured activity and essential support for families.
The programme offers free sporting opportunities for local primary school pupils, helping ensure that every child has the chance to take part in sport regardless of their circumstances. Through Energisers, children can access professional coaching, sports facilities and equipment at no cost, removing barriers that might otherwise prevent them from getting involved.
Beyond sport, the programme also provides practical support for families. Participants can access free hot meals, a warm and safe environment, showering facilities and Wi-Fi, offering valuable support as many households continue to face cost-of-living pressures.
Energisers sessions run regularly after school, giving children a safe space to stay active, build confidence and spend time with friends.
Growing participation in 2025/26
Since 1 August 2025, Energisers has already delivered significant impact across the city.
Between August and February, the programme recorded:
- 539 participations in Q1
- 1,118 participations in Q2
- More than 800 participations in February alone, including 108 through our Extra Time holiday camp
That represents more than 2,400 participations in just seven months, with numbers already ahead of the same point last year.
Reaching children across Aberdeen
Children from more than 40 primary schools across Aberdeen have taken part in Energisers sessions so far this year.
Schools including St Peters, Sunnybank, Cornhill and Kittybrewster are engaging regularly with the programme. At St Peters, participations increased from 130 in Q1 to 218 in Q2, while Sunnybank recorded 324 participations in Q2, with strong attendance continuing into February.
These figures represent participations, with many children returning week after week. Families are choosing to come back, and children are building routine, confidence and friendships through sport.
Meeting real community need
Demand for Energisers continues to grow. The last two programme releases were fully booked within hours of opening.
The speed at which places are filled reflects both the level of need and the trust families place in the programme.
Supported by our sponsors
The continued support of Serica Energy and CNOOC International plays an important role in making Energisers possible.
For 2025/26, CNOOC International has also provided 2,000 Energisers water bottles, ensuring every participant receives one.
“We’re proud to support the ASV Energisers programme, ensuring everyone has the chance to benefit from sport and physical activity in a safe and welcoming environment.” – CNOOC International
"We chose ASV as our charity of choice because we understand the positive impact having these facilities in Aberdeen has on children and adults in our local communities, and because we are aware that by having the access to these facilities, children are given a chance to develop their potential and chase their dreams." ― Serica Energy
