It’s been an incredible few weeks for our Table Tennis Academy at Aberdeen Sports Village, with our young players and coaches continuing to achieve, compete and be recognised at the highest levels.
At the Scottish Senior Schools Championships in Bathgate, nine of our academy players qualified to represent Scotland at the British Schools Championships in Wales this June = a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the commitment and talent within the squad.
Among the standout performances, Dean Robertson and Kiishi Adekola retained their U14 titles, continuing a brilliant run of form. Kiishi’s recent performances are part of a demanding schedule of training and competition across the UK, highlighting the dedication and work ethic behind these results.
Across the age groups, there were strong performances throughout the team. Inniyan Jayaraj and Nikki Mo secured top-four finishes in the U14 category, while Victor Chen and Mathew Pszonka competed well in a tough U16 field.
Maja Wojcicka delivered an excellent performance in the U18 girls’ event, narrowly missing out on the title after a closely fought final. In the U18 boys’ competition, Ben Hart claimed the title, with Jakub Krzyzostaniak and Robbie Martin also achieving qualification places.
These results are not just about podium finishes - they represent the consistency, resilience and progress of a group of young athletes who are fully committed to their sport.
Behind every performance is the support of a dedicated coaching team. We’re especially proud to see that recognised, with ASV Table Tennis Academy coach Natalie Gallan named as a finalist for Coach of the Year at the Aberdeenshire ClubSport Awards. At the same event, Kiishi was also shortlisted for Young Female Athlete of the Year (U18), underlining the strength of our pathway from grassroots to performance.
These achievements reflect the strength of the academy - a place where young players are supported, challenged and given the opportunity to reach their potential.
With the Scottish National Championships in Largs coming up next, the momentum continues, and we’re excited to see what this group does next.
