Creating Lasting Memories and Building Community:

ASV Matchday Experience

Recently, in partnership with Aberdeen Football Club, ASV welcomed 10 children from the Aberdeen Lads Club for a special day of football, fun, and community engagement. This event wasn’t just about offering an exciting experience for these kids—it was about strengthening our connection to the community, fostering a love for sports, and helping to secure future funding that will enable us to continue making a difference.

The day kicked off with the children getting to enjoy ASV’s world-class football facilities, where our coaching staff guided them through fun drills and mini-matches. For many of these children, this was their first time experiencing the professional environment we offer at ASV, and it was inspiring to see them play on our high-quality pitches. The event not only boosted their confidence but also highlighted the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship.

After a fun morning at ASV, the excitement grew as the children made their way to Pittodrie Stadium to watch Aberdeen FC take on Kilmarnock in a thrilling Scottish Premiership match. For many, it was their first time watching a live football match, making the day all the more memorable.

The partnership between ASV and Aberdeen FC is a prime example of how collaboration can help create meaningful experiences for local children. Football is deeply rooted in Aberdeen, and this event allowed young fans to engage with the sport in a way that will leave a lasting impression. The joy on their faces throughout the day reminded us why these initiatives are so important. They not only provide a fun experience but also inspire young people to stay active, pursue their passions, and feel connected to their community.

This day also reflects our broader commitment to making sports accessible to all.

At ASV, we strive to provide opportunities for young athletes, regardless of their background, to experience the best that sports have to offer. By opening our doors to the Aberdeen Lads Club, we hope to spark a love for football, and for sports in general, that could lead these children to further develop their skills and confidence. For some of these young players, this might be the beginning of a lifelong passion.

The feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive. One parent expressed their gratitude by saying;

“Thank you so much to ASV and Aberdeen Football Club for giving our children an incredible day of football and fun. It’s something they’ll remember for a long time.”

It’s heartwarming to hear how these opportunities make a real impact on families and children in our community, reminding us of the importance of continuing this work.

However, events like this wouldn’t be possible without ongoing support and funding. ASV relies on partnerships, sponsorships, and donations to offer these types of experiences, especially for underserved communities. By showcasing the impact we’re making, we hope to attract more funding that will allow us to expand our outreach and ensure more children have access to sports opportunities like this. The success of this event shows what can be achieved when we come together as a community to support young people, and it emphasizes the importance of continued investment in sports initiatives.

Looking forward, we are excited about building on this success. ASV is already planning future collaborations with Aberdeen FC and other local organizations to create more opportunities for children to get involved in sports. We’re aiming to host more "come and try" days, partner with local schools, and expand our youth development programs, all with the goal of making Aberdeen a healthier, more connected community.
