University of Aberdeen Performance Swimming delivered when it mattered most, winning the Top Club title at SNAGS 2026 in Aberdeen.
After five days of racing, it came down to the wire. UOAPS edged Warrender Baths Club by just 11 points – one of the closest finishes in the event’s history. Only seven points separated the teams going into the final day, with the lead changing hands throughout the week.
Team effort across the week
The result reflects the strength of the programme at Aberdeen Sports Village, delivered in partnership with the University of Aberdeen and Scottish Swimming.
From younger swimmers to senior athletes, every race counted. With points across individual events and relays, the whole squad played their part.
Big swims on the final day
UOAPS sealed the title with a strong final session:
- Alex Cantley set the tone with gold in the 200m IM
- Aiden Anderson finished his meet in style, winning the 800m freestyle and adding to his medal haul
- Sofia McMahon claimed her third medal with gold in the 50m butterfly
Anderson also topped the boys’ 16 & under rankings for his 400m freestyle performance.
“We’ve been building towards this for the past couple of years. I’m really proud of everyone’s contribution. To go from ninth place two seasons ago to winning the title shows how far the programme has come.” - Head Coach Gregor McMillan
A proud moment for Aberdeen
UOAPS continues to grow as Scotland’s largest composite swimming programme, bringing together local clubs and university athletes in a high-performance environment.
For Aberdeen Sports Village, it’s a proud moment – seeing swimmers who train here reach the top of the national stage.
A huge result, and a big step forward for the programme.
