Evergreen Members Celebrate with Christmas Lunch at ASV

Christmas is the season of joy, togetherness, and creating cherished memories, and that spirit was alive and thriving at the Evergreen Christmas lunch this year. The Sports Centre Café was filled with laughter, warmth, and a festive atmosphere as 70 Evergreens came together for an afternoon of delicious food, lively games, and plenty of cheer.

A Feast to Remember
No Christmas lunch is complete without a traditional turkey dinner, and the ASV team certainly delivered! Plates were piled high with turkey, crispy roast potatoes, sweet parsnips, tender carrots, and classic brussels sprouts, all drizzled with rich gravy and a dollop of tangy cranberry sauce. To toast the occasion, guests enjoyed glasses of sparkling Schloer, adding an extra touch of festivity to the meal.

The day held even more significance as two of our cherished Evergreens celebrated their birthdays during the event. A huge congratulations to Beatrice Yackiminie, who turned 91, and Jacqueline Allan, who celebrated her 72nd birthday. Their milestones brought an extra sparkle to the occasion, and we were thrilled to share these special moments with them!

Games, Giggles, and Gifts
The fun didn’t end with the meal. The Evergreens embraced the festive spirit with two entertaining games:

  • Heads and Tails (Seated Version): This lively coin-flipping game had everyone laughing as participants tried their luck. The suspense grew with each round until one lucky winner was crowned!
  • Pass the Parcel: A Christmas classic, this game brought smiles all around as beautifully wrapped parcels made their way around the tables. Each layer revealed delightful surprises, including Christmas tree ornaments and decorative festive plants, spreading joy to the lucky recipients.

This magical afternoon wouldn’t have been possible without the hard work and dedication of the ASV team. The friendly Café staff – Gill, Martin, and Daniel, along with Jeanette from the cleaning team, made sure everyone was served with care and a smile. A special thanks to Lisa, our Health and Wellbeing Manager, who planned and organised every detail to perfection, ensuring the day was truly special for our Evergreens.

We can’t wait to do it all again next year! Until then, we wish all our Evergreens a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year filled with love, laughter, and good health and as always thanking our members for being part of our village.
